Write Down Your Purpose Statement and Read It Each Day

( An excerpt from The Power of Positive Habits, Habit #23 )

You are not an accident. You are here for a reason and you have a purpose. Deep down you know this, and it’s why The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren has sold over 100 million copies. Everyone is searching for their purpose because they know there is a purpose to be found. You wouldn’t be searching for a purpose if you didn’t have a purpose. I wrote a book called The Seed that teaches how to find your purpose. It includes you making the decision to live with purpose, on purpose, and for a purpose. As you do this, your bigger purpose begins to reveal itself to you.

If you’re someone who believes what I just wrote, you’re on the right track. If you’re someone who doesn’t believe life has meaning, you can get on the purpose path right now by deciding to give it meaning by writing down a purpose statement and reading it each day. When you do this and live this, you’ll find more fuel for your life. We don’t get burned out because of what we do. We get burned out because we forget why we do it. Purpose gives you power. Research shows that people are most energized when they’re using their strengths and gifts for a bigger purpose beyond themselves. You can fuel up with purpose each day by reading your purpose statement and then look for opportunities to live it.

Here are some examples of purpose statements:

“I’m here to raise champions.”

“I make people smile and feel good about themselves.”

“I help people enhance their health and happiness.”

“I help my clients solve problems.”

“I empower the next generation.”

“I help people create a secure financial future.”

“I help people create their dreams.”

“I help people find and buy their dream home.”

“I make my customers day every day.”

“I add value and a smile to everyone I meet.”

“I bring people together.”

“I make my community safer.”

“I help people get better.”

“I help people heal.”

There are a million purpose statements you can create. I can’t tell you which one is right for you, but I can tell you that when you think about your purpose and write it down, and use your strengths for a greater purpose, and decide to live with purpose and for a purpose, you’ll live more intentionally and powerfully.

Lead Positive,

Jon
