I didn’t want to write about this in my newsletter but I’m a writer at heart and must share what’s on my heart.
My teammate from college committed suicide recently. Then my colleague told me Friday her son’s school just had two students commit suicide. Then Rondale Moore, an NFL player killed himself Saturday night.
It breaks my heart especially when I know we can prevent it and save lives.
I hate suicide because I know it’s more than a mental battle. It’s a spiritual battle and there is an evil in this world that seeks to steal the future of men and women of all ages. Rondale and my teammate would not choose to have those negative thoughts in their heads. They showed up and sadly they believed the lies they spoke to them.
Remember you are not the thoughts you think. You are the thoughts you believe.
I say this to anyone struggling with depression, discouragement and doubt. Don’t believe these lies. You’re not broken. There’s nothing wrong with you. You don’t need to be fixed. You are just in a battle between good and evil and your mind is the battleground. You need to learn the truth to win the battle. Every hero in every epic movie must battle a villain and so will you in this life. I want you to know your future is filled with hope. You are loved. Faith gives you strength.
When you talk about mental health and suicide from a spiritual lens you get attacked by those who believe in a purely medical model that hasn’t worked (the problem is getting worse). Many say depression is a disease but it’s more so the result of a disconnection.
I wrote a book called The One Truth that explains how it all works and it’s the answer to our mental health crisis. For those who will now attack me for mentioning my book I do so not to promote it but to promote the truth and life saving advice in it. I donate 100% of it to charity and I have had countless conversations with struggling teenagers for free where I teach the concepts to them. I don’t charge for this.
One teen was suicidal and in the ER two nights before. I met him at his house and taught him the One Truth and the next day his mom called and said, “What did you do? He’s fine.” I said, I just taught him the truth and he got it. He’s now in college and doing great! This has happened countless times.
The One Truth explains that everything comes down to connection and disconnection. All mental health disorders report feelings of being alone, unloved separate and disconnected. When someone experiences trauma there’s a neurological separation that happens in the brain. We even have the terms “psychic break” and “broken brain.” Schizophrenia means “split mind” and Bi polar means “two separate poles.” And the root for the Greek word for “anxious” means to “separate and divide.”
When a person feels disconnected and divided from a physical cause (brain injury, drugs, damage to the brains mitochondria) or relational trauma (break up, abuse, betrayed trust, etc) or disconnected from people and from God the disconnection leads to mental health issues. It’s why so many struggled during the pandemic with their mental health. It’s why drugs lead to so many feeling depressed and hopeless about their future.
From a spiritual perspective there is a force (evil) always trying to divide and a love and power that wants to unite. Look at the world and you see all the division at a macro level (wars, political divide, broken families, marriages, friendships) and the division within our souls, lives, bodies and brains. The fact that we use the term broken implies that wholeness, oneness and connection is our natural and intended state.
Evil uses 5 D’s to divide us. Doubt. Distortion (negative thoughts/lies) Discouragement, Distraction, and Division. The more these 5 D’s impact us they lead to defeat, divorce, despair, depression and sadly our destruction. They are all signs we need healing, connection, and love to return to wholeness and oneness, not separateness.
How do we heal and win the battle against a force always trying to divide?
Connection to self. Connection with others. Connection with God.
At one level we need to heal the brain. The brain makes sense of this world and our existence through frequencies, wavelengths, vibrations and light. We have 86 billion neurons. No one has ever found a thought in the brain. The brain is antenna. Not like an antenna. It actually is one and tunes into thoughts based on two main frequencies. Positive and negative. That’s why everything in this world comes down to positive and negative.
The future will be all about treatments that heal the brain through energy medicine and healing frequencies. There’s also a lot of experiments being done with psychedelics helping military veterans heal from PTSD. The entire brain lights up and dormant parts are reactivated, connections are established and we see improvements.
Connection with others is a huge part and we see this in AA communities where community and connection help people heal. Addiction is also a disconnection by the way. Addicts are seeking the feeling they get from real connection but unfortunately they choose bad substitutes that make them crave more. This is where counselors, therapists, psychologists play a huge part. The conversations and connections lead to healing when done right. Friendships/family also play a big part and it’s important to check in with loved ones.
And here’s the one that most of the medical system ignores and it’s the most important part. Connection to God. You’ll never win a spiritual battle with man made strategies.
I know about feeling disconnected because I struggled with depression and anxiety and a ton of negative thoughts. It got so bad my wife was going to leave me. I asked her to stay and said I would try to change. She told me to get on medication and I said I wanted to see if I could do it naturally.
I began taking walks of gratitude because I read you can’t be stressed and thankful at the same time. These walks changed my life and turned into walks of prayer. Looking back I realize my soul needed healing and as I connected with God and healed my soul, I rewired and healed my brain.
For me, my kids, who struggled too, and all those I have helped over the years when they are suffering mentally they have no connection to God. The truth is we were created for connection when we are connected we feel whole, powerful, confident and courageous. When we feel disconnected we feel fearful, anxious, insecure, cluttered, depressed and chronically stressed. We overthink when we are disconnected. We have clarity when we are connected.
So how do we connect? Meditation helps reduce clutter in our mind and allows for connection to happen. And prayer and love are the most powerful ways to connect.
Fear divides. Love unites.
Positive thinking that neutralizes negative thinking also helps a lot.
Here is my TUNE framework that helps a lot and one for PRAYER. You can also access 7 WAYS TO ELEVATE YOUR STATE OF MIND.
Feel free to use these PDF’s and share them with those who could benefit. They have already saved a bunch of lives and I decided I needed to be more bold and share them with more people.
Read The One Truth and teach it to all those struggling. We can save lives together and there’s nothing more important than that.

P.S., I’m very aware that medical intervention and medicine is needed in certain situations. However, even with medical intervention, many are still missing the holistic solution in order to heal vs just treat the symptom. We need all of it. Science, Psychology and Faith all working together.
